Overview of Course

The TC1 & TMI1 Combined Skill Set provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely control traffic using a Stop/Slow Bat and implement Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) plans at roadwork and construction sites.

This nationally recognised course is delivered by an Austroads Approved Training Provider and meets current industry requirements.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • RIISS00058 – Traffic Controller Skill Set (TC1)
    1. RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
    2. RIIWHS205E Control traffic with stop-slow bat
    3. RIIWHS206 Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and
      temporary traffic signs
  • RIISS00060 – Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set (TMI1)
    1. RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes
    2. RIIWHS302E Implement traffic management plans
    3. RIIWHS303 Position, set up, and program portable traffic control devices
    4. RIICOM201E – Communicate in the workplace

Assessment Requirements

Participants must successfully complete:
  • Written Knowledge Assessment
  • Practical Demonstrations
  • Traffic Control Exercises
  • Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Activities
  • Verbal Questioning
Workplace Experience Requirements
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of supervised workplace experience in accordance with the Austroads TTM Program.
  • Complete the Austroads Workplace Logbook and required evidence.
  • Australian Vocational Training (AVT) may recommend or refer participants to suitable employers for workplace experience where opportunities are available.
  • Upon satisfactory completion of the required workplace experience and successful verification of all evidence, participants may book their final assessment.
  • Successful completion of the final assessment will result in the issuance of the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the applicable Austroads skill set(s).

What are the Entry Requirements?

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Mandatory Valid White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Basic English Language, Literacy & Numeracy Skills
  • Physically capable of undertaking practical activities
  • Valid Photo Identification

This course is delivered by an Austroads Approved Training Provider in accordance with the Austroads Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Program.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive nationally recognised Statements of Attainment for the TC1 Traffic Controller and TMI1 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Sets.
